John Martin

With an extensive background in traditional photography, John has been on the forefront of digital imaging for over 10 years and is one of only a handful of photographers in Northern California with comprehensive experience in digital photography. A pioneer in the field, he has been an invited speaker at both Macworld and Seybold conferences and is the founder and director of U.S. Digital Imaging Group, a nonprofit corporation.

In the 1990s, as studio manager, John created the digital photography department at Butterfield's, transitioning the auction house founded in 1865 into the digital age. He then opened his own studio, JFM Digital Imaging, an all digital studio from the start.

John studied at School of Visual Arts, NYC, and City College San Francisco and taught at Academy of Art University. He has worked as a commercial photographer for 25 years.
